my favorite painting ever
Cafe Terrace at Night by Vincent Van Gogh
i often imagine myself sitting in this cafe with someone i love and enjoying a perfect cup of coffee. it's been my favorite painting for as long as i can remember. i received a giant print of it as a Christmas present a few years back, and it hangs near my computer where i can admire it every day.
his dream
He had come a long way...and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity...where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night. -The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Lester's job description
"My job consists of basically masking my contempt for the assholes in charge, and, at least once a day, retiring to the men's room so I can jerk off while I fantasize about a life that doesn't so closely resemble Hell."

letting go
Hitting bottom isn't a weekend retreat. It's not a goddamn seminar. Stop trying to control everything, and just let go! LET GO!
Tyler Durden in Fight Club
Drink up baby doll
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
'Cause it's all going off without you
Excuse me too busy you're writing your tragedy
These mishaps
You bubble-wrap
When you've no idea what you're like
[Chorus]
So, let go,let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, l-let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
It gains the more it gives
And then it rises with the fall
So hand me that remote
Can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow?
Such boundless pleasure
We've no time for later
Now you can't await
your own arrival
you've twenty seconds to comply
[Chorus]
So, let go, so let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's alright
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, yeah let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
[background sounds]
[Chorus]
So, let go, so let go
Jump in
Oh well, what you waiting for?
It's alright
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
So, let go, yeah let go
Just get in
Oh, it's so amazing here
It's all right
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
In the breakdown
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown
The breakdown
So amazing here
'Cause there's beauty in the breakdown

for my sister...
UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
